Fashion can speak volumes when it comes to making a woman feel empowered, confident and beautiful. All that it takes is simply giving yourself and extra five minutes in the morning to apply a new lipstick or try on a bold pair of heels to instantly boost self-esteem. However in life we face many obstacles, and if you are diagnosed with a cancer such as mesothelioma from asbestos exposure, you can easily lose sight of keeping up with your daily appearance. Yet don’t let the illness take hold of the beautiful woman you are, fight back and employ these simple beauty techniques to get the sexy, bold woman in you back!

There’s nothing like a new outfit to make a woman feel great about herself and gain a little pep in her step in the morning. Switch up your daily wardrobe up by trying something different; even if it is not purchasing a new outfit, mix and match to change up your style. Shopping for clothes can be an exhilarating experience because you can see yourself in a completely different light. Treat yourself to something you have had your eye on so you can feel fabulous the next time you wear it in public. The great thing about fashion is there is something out there for every woman, of every size, age, color and every background no matter what illness you have.

Hair and Makeup

Having your hair and makeup done can make you feel more beautiful about yourself because you can instantly get a new look. Wearing makeup does not mean that you have to completely change your appearance; the key to makeup is to simply enhance your own natural features to give you that glowing, healthy look everyone wants. There are numerous ways you can style your hair and if you are itching for a change, simply get your hair cut in a different way than you have ever had before whether it is layering the frame of your face or going brown to blonde. Grab a magazine the next time you’re out at the grocery store and pick your favorite celebrities hairstyle and bring it to your next hair appointment. By trying something different it can be fun to have the look of someone you’ve always admired!

Getting your nails done is one of the simplest and yet one of the most uplifting fashion techniques you can employ. Pick a vibrant color if you’re feeling down or a deep red to bring out the vixen in you. When your nails are done, you instantly feel better about yourself, on top of the fact that being pampered for those 20 minutes is an extremely relaxing experience.

Fashion is one of the best things to lift your spirits. Nothing makes a woman more alive and empowered than looking beautiful. It is a proven fact that when you look good you feel great too; so wake up excited to put on your favorite outfit and throw on a pair of vibrant heels or a sophisticated, bold necklace. Jackie, I cannot thank you enough for contributing a post to My Pocketful of Thoughts! Cancer can be earth shattering for a person getting diagnosed, and the world is lucky to have you being an advocate! Fashion is definitely so versatile and for-ever changing and a great outlet to reconnect ourselves with our souls!

I am so pleased you enjoyed the post. There really is power in fashion even if it is just a splash of color. Thanks for your kind words and check out more of my articles on my blog.

Yes they can Lisa, whenever I get my nails done I always look for a color that makes me smile…and I try and talk the woman sitting next to me with a soft neutral color into jazzing it up…I don’t know if they curse my name later or not but they definitely smile after seeing the color directly after. To save money I like to pick up a bottle of a happy red colored nail polish for the times it makes sense to skip the manicure and do them at home 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Lisa!

Ohhhn im all about vibrant colors! Ever think about how your mood perks up just seeing a bright color that interests you! To be honest…im just getting into colors and hunni….I love them. No more dark colors for me! Vibrant to match my personality…. 🙂
Stopping by from fbf!!

Yes! Taking time to pamper yourself makes a huge difference. I used to be such a fashionista and then realized that I was slowly allowing myself to get frumpy. The frumpiness ended up making me feel bad too…once I realized this I started shopping again and going back to my routine of getting my nails done weekly. As soon as I started putting a little more effort back into myself, I began to get happy again. Fashion is not just about aesthetic beauty, but rather how you portray the way that you feel. Putting a little time into your appearance is an easy way to give yourself some extra love!

Absolutely Ces’Ari, I treat myself to a monthly facial. And a good chunk of my spending this year so far has been on make up and nail polish. Fun bright colors or soft cool colors, options to pick from everyday to turn the day into a positive one! Now if I can just get my hair to behave 🙂 Thanks for stopping by <3!
