Where Can I Start My Holiday Shopping?

This past Money Monday I shared with you My Naughty and Nice List.  So of course I want to know how is your holiday shopping going? Have you started yet? Are you almost done? If you haven’t started yet I suggest when you’re done with reading this post you stop by Monday’s post and check out how to start!  It’s making me nervous to even think about you waiting til the day before Christmas to start.  I know plenty of people who do though, so you’re not alone.

For me though I am a bit claustrophobic so I tend to make sure I’m done with my list by the first or second week of December!  Anything after that and you might get a homemade gift if I haven’t gotten to your name yet by that time.  This is actually not a bad idea if you share the same phobia of large crowds.  People tend to morph into mean monsters during the holiday shopping season.  If you do have to shop during the month of December, good luck to you!
Since I’m almost done, I thought it would be nice to share some ideas of what to get the people on your list.  This will come to you next week.  In the meantime I wanted to share an event you can look for in your neck of the woods.  It is the perfect spot to start your holiday shopping.  I love to stop at Holiday Shopping Events.  Its a great way to find some really great gifts for your loved ones and of course, yourself!  I normally have to travel all the way to NY to find a good one.  However, this year I’m in luck to have one closer to home.  In Connecticut, one of my dear friends is hosting a Holiday Shopping event in Norwalk, CT for the ladies.  If you happen to be in my neck of the woods I invite you to partake in the festivities!

Melissa & Doug Terrific Twenty List and Giveaway

Today is such an exciting day for so many reasons!  I was going to tell you weeks ago about how I was almost finished with my Christmas shopping but I thought instead I’d explain my process of getting things done before the holiday season is upon us.  Then on Saturday I got my Starbucks in a holiday cup and in another store they were playing Christmas music and I realized that I never did the post. (Gasp!)  SO to make it up to you I’m sharing today the Melissa & Doug Terrific Twenty List and Giveaway.  It started yesterday but there’s still 19 days left of giveaways! YAY!

If you’re shocked to realize that the holidays are right around the corner, don’t fret.  If you’re not familiar with Melissa & Doug, they started making toys over 24 years ago in Doug’s childhood home.  They’ve grown so much since then that they have their own space.  Inspiring, right?  Their philosophy is simple -‘to make each and every customer a happy and permanent member of the Melissa & Doug family, while offering products with tremendous value, quality and design’.  While I have been looking for the perfect gifts for the smaller kids on my list, I realized that I’m looking for products just like the ones that Melissa & Doug have been making for years.

The list for their giveaway compiles the “best of the best” holiday gifts for the 2012 holiday season, and they’re excited to share it here with you! AND To celebrate, they’re having a 20 Days of Terrific Twenty Giveaway on their Facebook page! Every day (started yesterday, November 6) they’ll be giving away one item from their Terrific Twenty list to at least one of their lucky Facebook fans!

Today, Day 2 of the giveaway, is one of my favorite toys, the charming Beeposh Elvis stuffed animal! How cute is this guy?  And has the name Elvis in it to boot for all us Elvis fans.

What do you have to do to get in on the giveaway?

To enter to win a gift every day from the Terrific Twenty list head over to their FACEBOOK page, LIKE it, and find today’s post with the giveaway and follow the directions!

From Brian Tracy’s Eat That Frog…Are you focused?

“…Your ability to select your most important task at each moment, and then to get started on that task and to get it done both quickly and well, will probably have more of an impact on your success than any other quality or skill you can develop…”(Pg 1, Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy)

The question to ponder over today is, are you identifying the most important task you need to work on?  If so are you choosing to do other things instead of doing what you’ve identified as the most important task?

I can honestly say that more often than not, I choose to procrastinate with everything else, rather than working on the task I know to be the most important task I should be working on.  Some days though, if I really focus and remind myself, hey woman, you know what you should be working on, I work on what I should be working on.  If you’re a fellow procrastinator, then you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.  One thing that I found, as I was reading this book, was to identify what was feeding my procrastination.  Facebook.  I wasn’t catching up with friends or making plans with family members.  I was playing games.  Games that I’ll admit I sometimes miss.  So what did I do?  I deactivated my personal Facebook account.  I haven’t been on it since.  I read more now.  I write more now.  I volunteer my time.  Its amazing what can be done in the 168 hours we have a week, when we identify what is keeping us from doing all the things we want to do.

I ask you again, Are you identifying the most important task you need to work on?  If so are you choosing to do other things instead of doing what you’ve identified as the most important task?  What’s feeding your procrastination?  Let me know in the comments section OR if its Facebook that’s feeding YOUR procrastination then find me on the My Pocketful Of Thoughts Facebook Page, LIKE it, and Share. :)  IF, twitter is your poison than send me a tweet ‘@djrelat7 ________(fill in the blank) feeds my procrastination.’  Can’t wait to read them!

Until then,
