Would You Let Someone Else Alter YOUR Wedding Vision?

How are you on this awesome Sunday?  I woke up this morning with a skip in my heart and a feeling of being wrapped in a Venti Signature Hot Chocolate from Starbucks.  I know you have a confused look on your face, you think, hot chocolate, really?  For me, hot chocolate is the ultimate treat!  It leaves me feeling warm.  It makes me smile.  It turns the day bright and shiny!  NO MATTER what comes up, its better somehow after drinking a hot chocolate.  I spent the last few hours of  my Saturday night in the arms of my loving boyfriend!  Like hot chocolate, he is an intoxicating drug.  Granted chocolate hasn’t been categorized as a drug, but it definitely leaves me feeling high.  Just like him.  So that is why I awoke this morning feeling like I was wrapped in hot chocolate. What leaves you feeling high?

Do you know what else makes this Sunday a great one?  My Fair Wedding with David Tutera!  While on my search for All Thing Wedding Like I came across the show on WeTV (Women’s Entertaintment). The show is about brides that have a majority of their wedding planned out and three weeks before the wedding, David steps in and revises the whole thing.  At first I thought to myself, If I am planning my wedding would I want someone else altering my vision?  No, right?  So I watched, was awed and am now hooked.  Gotta love dvr technology to catch all the episodes I’ve missed from not knowing about it.  David just has a way of helping these poor brides turn their “concept” into a magical experience to be remembered by all.  Everything is always elegant, sophisticated and creative.  I always get anxious, waiting to see how his revision will come out as everything he chooses for the bride is shown at the very end.  After watching the first episode I have definitely changed my mind.  When it comes time to start planning my wedding, David can revise it any way he wishes!

Know any good Bridal Shower games?

It is about a month and a half into wedding season…I’ve been doing research and I thought I’d start off the All Things Wedding by giving my personal favorites for Bridal Shower games.  A few months back I did tons of research to find the fun games that most people never play at showers. See if you’ve played the ones that made my cut.

  1. Purse Scavenger Hunt or Let’s Make a Deal (to be timed) Remember that old game show, Let’s Make a Deal? At the end of every show, Monty Hall would give audience members money for a specific unusual item. This is the same idea. Divide guests into teams of two or three, giving them a list of slightly unusual items, including a few “why in the world would you carry that in a purse?” items. Assign points to each item based on the likelihood that someone will have it. (a lipstick carries 10 points, a can opener 90 points). The team with the most points is the winner. Another variation is to call out items as the bride is opening presents, giving a small individual prize for each item.  This game we played in the beginning and it turned out to be a hit.  One table had their entire purse contents laid out in front of them.  TEAM WORK!  This game is good to have in the beginning so you can have someone tally up the points to see which table won. 
  2. Bridal Shower Family Feud – You’ll need two teams of five and a host. (An extra helper or two for revealing the answers would also be beneficial.) Use a desk bell for the contestants to ring in and for the host to verify an answer that is on the board. Use a bike horn to indicate a wrong answer. Use the survey answers in the titled link and have fun. I couldn’t find a horn or a bell to have contestants ring in, so I improvised with a wooden spoon.  To start off the round the family member on either team to grab the spoon first and answer.  If they answered correctly then the spoon was passed onto a fellow teammate.  Don’t know how to play?   3. Fill Out the Envelope: Before the bridal shower, buy (or let the bride choose) the thank you cards. When guests arrive, ask them to fill out his or her address in the “to” section of the envelope. Have the guests put the filled out envelope in a jar. (I used a nice gift box with handle) After guests have completed the envelopes, draw an envelope from the jar. The name drawn is the winner. The best part is: the bride has all of the envelopes for her thank-you cards already filled out! This saves her a lot of time! 
  4. The Clothespin Game To begin, choose a “buzz word” such as bride, groom, wedding, etc. When each guests comes into the party, hand them a clothespin. Then, if someone hears another person saying the “buzz word,” they get to take that person’s clothespin. The person with the most clothespins at the end of the party wins. (Another variation is that a guest loses her clothespin when she crosses her legs, a hard task for a party full of women!)
    Adding on to this I wrote inspirational words for marriage on the clothespins and put them in a nice box for the bride to keep when we were done playing.  Target has a package for a few bucks 🙂

     There were a lot of games on my schedule for that day…we only did five and the last one not on the list wasn’t that big of a hit.  People can only take but so many games at an event like this so keep your list short and give extra time for the Bride to mingle with her guests.  As always I’ll leave you with a list of sites I went to in search of the perfect games, but remember it takes a lot of team work from the bridal party to get it all done smoothly!  Luckily we were an awesome team…but then how could we not be…WE ROCK 🙂
