Random Thoughts Stay Tuned

Great Conversations with friends can….

Great conversations with friends last week turned into some awesome opportunities for the rest of us.  In the months ahead we’ll be hearing about topics I wouldn’t get to research until next year, keeping in mind my procrastinating ways.  Luckily for us we won’t have to wait that long!  What are these exciting topics you ask me?  Well thats for me to know and you to STAY TUNED for!  Feel free to be annoyed with me until then for not telling you, as I totally feel your pain.  My boyfriend will tell me he’s got a surprise for me three days before he actually gives it and I drive myself nuts trying to guess what it is…sigh.  Oh right, so then I should give you something before I bid you adieu on this marvelous Monday.

Tomorrow’s Take-Charge Tuesday Topic (Say that 5 times fast) will remind us that the way events affect us is determined on our frame of mind; Events can have either a negative or positive effect.  In our current economic state, many of us have been in financial hardships.  We get to learn that the current market can affect us in a positive way, if we understand how it works.  mrRua, who shares his own thoughts on his blog on a wide range of topics. will grace our presence tomorrow, inspire us and share how money works for him. Feel free in the mean time to click on the link and get to know him a little more, My mind…online. If you want to reference his blogs on My Pocketful Of Thoughts in the future search for mrRua OR Confessions of an Entrepreneur.

Fun Fridays Random Thoughts YUMMINESS

Breakfast for Dinner, YUMMINESS YES!

I hope that as the sun rises you are greeted with the most fabulous Friday ever.  With that said, may I be one of the first people to say HAPPY FRIDAY YAY! Today is the first of many postings to come of places to find some good eats.  I am sure I am not alone when I say breakfast for dinner hits the spot!

A few months ago I was introduced to Bill’s Drive-In in Monroe, CT.  Trust me when I say that I love food.  Breakfast especially.  However I am super picky about what I eat for breakfast.  Specifically how I like my eggs cooked.  Some might say its the Puerto Rican in me that likes them well done; touched with a toasty brown throughout.  So of course, as my boyfriend insisted on eating here, I was EXTREMELY skeptical!  I ordered a spinach, bacon and feta cheese omelet WELL DONE!  Can I tell you that I was sad when I was done.  Luckily for me, my dentist’s office is five minutes away from there.  So when I’m on my way to work after my visit, I stop and treat myself to that omelet.  I even stretch it out into lunch so I can savor its yumminess (yes this is a word 🙂 )  So, if you happen to live in the vicinity of Monroe, CT I encourage you to stop in.  I believe they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, but call ahead to make sure.  If you love it let us know in the comments section below. Then hit your local cinema and see Iron Man 2 and let me know if its worth the 10.50 for the movie ticket 🙂

Google directions to Bill’s Drive-In :  431 Monroe Turnpike Monroe, CT 06468-2226 – (203) 268-8808

Stay Tuned as I hit the road with friends in search of other yumminess in the Bridgeport, CT area.  If you miss a posting you can easily find it by searching for YUMMINESS!

Lovely Bones Random Thoughts Soulful Sundays

If you love them …say it!

How are you on this beautiful Sunday?  I am slightly fatigued from partying hard last night from The Love Movement.  My good friends, Shakira and Malek, tied the knot on Saturday.  It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever been to.  The ceremony was quite a tearjerker, from the bride coming down the aisle for the first time to the vows to when they got announced as Mr and Mrs at the reception.

I have had the privilege of watching their relationship from the start and it has been a beautiful journey for them.  A true love story!  The thing that moved me the most were the vows.  To hear one promise them self to another person, to commit them self fully throughout all the turns and twists of life, whether it lead them high or low, to take that journey together, all in the name of LOVE, is truly heart moving.  I think everyone watching got a little teary eyed after that.  How could you not?

I to, have been blessed with an awesome man in my life and we constantly tell and show our love for each other.  It is an awesome feeling to hear the words, to see the actions and to have that deliciously strong sense of calm and ease;  Knowing that you share a bond, that you are taken care of and that nothing can break that bond.

If you have that special someone in your life, and you haven’t told them how you felt…SAY IT!  If you love them say it!   You’re story might end in  a happily ever after to 🙂

Until then

Alice Sebold djrelat7 Book Reviews Random Thoughts Story Time Saturdays The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones
by Alice Sebold

“My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie.  I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973…”

I started reading this book in January while at Jury Duty.  I purchased this book in 2002 and after getting it home I couldn’t understand what had compelled me to buy it so it stayed on my bookshelf until I finally packed it into a box and put it in storage.  A friend of mine gave me her copy in August and insisted I read it.  Jury Duty seemed like a good time if any to read it.  The Lovely Bones is a must read.

The first page or so left me fighting back tears as this young girl describes her murder, how heaven is for her and how her loved ones are effected.  After the first chapter I put it down for a few months and picked it back up in April.  I won’t go into great detail in case you haven’t read it but it was one of the most moving stories I have ever read.

Children are precious.  I do not have children yet but I could not EVER imagine having to go through the loss of a child to such horrid means.  It is a scary thought to teach your child the dangers of strangers and to yet be polite and respectful simultaneously.

My heart goes out to those who have lost a child, by any means.  If you haven’t read this and plan to do so, you’ll read it and never be the same!

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
