Vantage Point

Vantage Point (2008)

One story can be told from so many angles, and you hope that somewhere along the way you can fit all the pieces to complete the puzzle. This is a definite must see and not because of all the hot/pretty actors, but because the storyline is full of action, twists and turns.  Oh and did I already mention Dennis Quaid is in this one?  Can you figure out what really happened to the Assasinated President? Lounge with your hunny on a Friday night for this one 🙂

Smart People (2008)
First off I LOVE Dennis Quaid and who doesn’t LOVE Sarah Jessica Parker!  I was excited to see these to stars work together.  This story is full of laughter, love and loss, not necessarily in that order.  Oh and I cannot forget about the awkwardness of family, but who doesn’t have that right?  Enjoy this movie rental on a Saturday night with a bowl of hot lightly buttered popcorn.

Ratatouille

Ratatouille (2007)

This was an entertaining animation.  Yes animation.  If you’re not a chartoon lover like myself perhaps this movie will change your mind.
Its an inspiring story which remind us that you can truly accomplish whatever you want to in life.  Obstacles are surely to come about as they do for Remy, but that doesn’t stop him.  So cuddle up with the kiddies or your loved one and enjoy it on this potentially rainy Friday 🙂

djrelat7 Movie Reviews Take Charge Tuesdays

Sometimes we need to be reminded to get out of our own way!

I was going to revisit goals today but last night I found myself watching a movie on the Disney channel.  This movie hit home and sent shivers over my skin.  This movie I thought was important to talk about on this Take-Charge Tuesday, because sometimes we need to be reminded to get out of our own way.

Akeelah the Bee
The story is of a young girl who learns to block out the things that hold her back from doing what she really wants to do.  I am not going into detail here as I truly believe if you have not seen it yet, you should.  If you’ve seen it already, see it again.  As I watched the movie, one of my favorite sayings was recited throughout, take a read when you have a moment.  Its in the left panel under Powerful Thoughts.
I was reminded that in life, people will talk you out of a lot of things.  Mainly because in their minds, the goal is not possible.  They project that on us and if they influence us, as most of our “voices” do, we begin to believe that to.  As their words set in, our dreams become distant wishes, our heads hang a little lower, the skip in our step slows down and we are left with a strong sense of longing.  Sometimes we are lucky to have someone come along in our lives to give us the strength to paint a brighter future and snatch the words of pessimistic souls right out of the mouths before their breath can meet the air.
Be that person to others and to yourself.  You never know when an encouraging word will let an idea blossom into a masterpiece.  The movie ends in a beautiful line...”You know that feeling where everything feels right? Where you don’t have to worry about tomorrow or yesterday, where you feel safe and know you’re doing the best you can? There’s a word for that, it’s called love. L-O-V-E.”
People L-O-V-E makes the world go round and the sooner you embrace that the better!  If you’re in the beginning stages of your future masterpiece, reread today’s quote of the day.  I posted the quote with my love in mind, to let him know, he is now what he will be, and I couldn’t be anymore proud and excited to watch his future unfold.
Feel free to leave things that inspire you to push forward in the comments below or send me an email 🙂 Also  look forward to our Health Guru’s next blog on My Pocketful Of Thoughts as Ms. Pillowz gives us the 411 on fasting.

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans djrelat7 Movie Reviews

Eva Mendes and Nicolas Cage in another movie…YES!

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans Movie Review:

On a rainy day the first thing you want to do is stay in bed and sleep.  Once you wake up and get out of bed you think to yourself tonight should be a movie rental night.  A few weeks ago, when I went away from the weekend, my friends and I decided to do just that.  We were all excited to see Bad Lieutenant!

I am a big fan of Nicholas Cage and it has nothing to do with his shared love for Elvis!  I always find that whatever character he plays, I believe he is that character.  Some actors play only certain roles and then when they try and play something else, there’s a slight disconnect while you’re watching the movie.  In this movie I believed his role.

Eva Mendes is another one of my favorite actors! She’s gorgeous, talented and LATINA.  Also i’m in love with how hydrated and soft her skin always looks!

Sooooo getting to the movie…I think their acting was good. I just didn’t like the movie itself.  I might have missed vital parts when I kept falling asleep.  In the movie’s defense I did watch it later in the evening and the wine might have helped my lids drop.

I won’t give specifics in case you haven’t watched it and would still like to.  I will compare it to another movie though. Requiem of a Dream, not that Bad Lieutenant is as bad as that movie, but similar in the respect that you get to see first hand what drug addiction can do to you.  There are definitely some funny parts as you truly cannot believe some of the things that Nicholas Cage’s character does.  The movie also comes full circle when the character who inadvertently creates the addiction, may just be the one to save him in the end.

On a scale of 1-5, Bad Lieutenant gets a 3

Please feel free to share your review of the movie by leaving a comment.  Click comment and that should take you to a pop up window where you may share your clean and creative thoughts!
