If it’s your first time here at My Pocketful of Thoughts, you’re right on time. This year Sundays will be a day to reflect on your previous week and show gratitude for the great things going on in your life. It is my belief and personal experience, that when we take a moment to say thanks AND start it on Sunday, Monday doesn’t seem so bad after all.
- My health. I have been sick for the last month or so. I am finally feeling like I am almost back to normal.
- Free meals. This week I got to eat dinner with some of Daniel’s family this week. I did not have to worry about what I was going to eat for dinner or going over my budget.
- Friends. Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget the importance of friendship. I got to hangout with someone I hadn’t seen in a bit and I learned something new about them. It made me put things about my job in a new perspective.
- Birthdays. Over the last 8 days I have celebrated four birthdays. It is a reminder to me that we should celebrate the day we’ve come into this world. We should carry on that feeling for the entire year. We should all celebrate our birthdays, every day!
We’re also going to be studying the Catholic Faith in more depth. Even if you are not Catholic, I think you’ll find that it is a great thing to learn about someone else’s religion. When we take the time to learn about each other, we realize that we’re not all that different. I will be highlighting text from Catechism for Youth, Based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church by Carlos Miguel Buela. I used this book to study from when I did my Confirmation. It is easy to read. I had the pleasure of meeting him in person last spring at a church function. I didn’t get a chance to pick his brain BUT I did snap a picture with him. Next week will begin with what one believes as a Catholic.
Sundays will also be the day where we start reading the BIble together. If you’ve already read it great! If you have ever wanted to but haven’t yet, today is your lucky day. I’ve read passages here and there but never from start to finish. I will be reading from the Kindle version of The Daily Walk Bible NLT. This was recommended to me by my future Brother-in-Law. It is meant to be a daily read, but we will be doing it weekly. Each section has a brief introduction that ties in other parts of the Bible and has thought provoking questions that we can relate to in our present time. Next week we will read Genesis, Chapter 1 and I’ll pick a few of the questions that they have you think about in the book. It may be in its own post so keep watch for that.
If you are interested in purchasing either of the two books mentioned, they are available on Amazon:
What are you grateful for this week? Are you learning your faith? Have you read the Bible? Will you be reading with us?
Until then,

I think it’s awesome you’ll be reading the Bible together. I try to read the Bible daily. Right now I’m in the Book of Psalms.
Thanks for sharing the Kindle eBook. I’m going to have to check it out and use it when I’m on the go.
It’s so good to be grateful for everything even the little things like food. Very inspiring Arelis!
Have a great new week hon! See ya in the Socialverse!
